Our Process

If you’ve ever admired the extraordinarily glossy finish on a piece of wooden furniture then you’re looking at wood finished with the French polishing technique. Wood is a sensitive material that needs protection from sunlight, humidity and general wear and tear. Shellac on the other hand enhances the natural appearance of wood.

Our process is to apply the polish in liquid form spreading carefully to create a thin and even coating that dries to a solid resin coating. Thin coats of resin are added layer by layer at a time. We then sand to get a perfect finish. It is an intensive process but this time-honoured method produces that perfect finish that shows off wood grain to perfection.

There are other methods of finishing wood like varnish, paints and high gloss stains. However, none of these produces the depth and richness of French polish.
